Selena Erkavun, the No. 2 seed, captured the Girls' 12 & Under singles title at the Level 5 Longfellow Open, held February 7-8 at Longfellow New Hampshire Tennis & Swim Club in Nashua, NH. The tournament featured electronic line calling and a flighted draw format across an eight-player main draw.

Erkavun's Road to the Title

Erkavun opened with a composed quarterfinal win over Giulia Souza, 6-2, 6-4, never facing a serious threat. In the semifinals, she held off a game Elina Hazarika — who had pulled off a quarterfinal upset of her own — winning 6-3, 7-5.

The final pitted Erkavun against No. 3 seed Esther Chen, who had fought through a dramatic semifinal to get there. Erkavun was clinical. After edging a tight first set 7-5, she pulled away completely in the second, rolling to a 6-0 finish to claim the title.

Chen Stuns Top Seed Conway in Three-Set Semifinal

The most dramatic match of the weekend came in the semifinals, where No. 3 seed Esther Chen outlasted top-seeded Alexa Conway in a seesaw battle. Conway grabbed the first set 7-5, but Chen fought back to take the second 7-5, forcing a match tiebreak. Chen sealed it 10-7 to advance to the final.

Chen had earlier cruised through the quarterfinals with a solid 7-5, 6-1 win over Claire Simon.

Hazarika Upsets No. 4 Seed MacDonald

Unseeded Elina Hazarika delivered the other notable upset of the draw, knocking off No. 4 seed Emmeline MacDonald in a three-set quarterfinal thriller, 2-6, 6-4, [10-6]. After dropping the first set convincingly, Hazarika dug deep to level the match and then controlled the match tiebreak.

Conway Battles Through Tough Opener

Top seed Alexa Conway survived a competitive quarterfinal against Sloane Yetten. After taking the first set 6-0, Conway let the second slip 5-7 before closing it out in a match tiebreak, 10-7.
