Dupere Survives Epic Semifinal, Claims Girls' 14U Title at Level 2 Seminole

Lucy Dupere, the No. 1 seed, claimed the Girls' 14 & Under singles title at the Level 2 in Seminole, FL, held February 7-9 at Seminole Lake Country Club Tennis. While the final was straightforward, Dupere's path there included one of the most dramatic matches of the weekend.

A Semifinal for the Ages

The match of the tournament came in the semifinals, where Dupere and No. 6 seed Victoria Narti traded haymakers across three sets. Narti took the first set in a tiebreak, 7-6(2), but Dupere leveled the match by winning the second-set tiebreak, 7-6(4). With nothing separating the two, it came down to a match tiebreak, and Dupere edged through 12-10 in a tense finish. It was a razor-thin margin between a title run and an early exit.

Dupere Dominates the Final

If the semifinal drained anything from Dupere, it didn't show. In the final against No. 7 seed Noa Boar, the top seed was in complete control from start to finish, winning 6-1, 6-2 to take the title.

Boar's Impressive Run

Boar had an impressive tournament of her own. In the quarterfinals, she pulled off the draw's biggest upset, knocking off No. 2 seed Gabrielle Alexa Villegas in a three-set battle, 4-6, 7-5, [10-7]. After dropping the first set, Boar fought back to force a match tiebreak and closed it out. She then swept past No. 4 seed Addison Latta 6-4, 6-1 in the semifinals to earn her spot in the final.

Other Notable Results

No. 6 seed Narti earned her semifinal spot with a quality win over No. 3 seed Isabella Gonzalez, 6-3, 7-6(3). Latta advanced past No. 8 seed Brooke Martin 6-2, 7-5 in the quarterfinals. Dupere opened her tournament with a comfortable 6-1, 6-3 win over Jacqueline Feehan.
